Description: It was constructed using a cone 5 chocolate clay, built in 1 piece & cut into sections for firing. It is mounted on patinaed steel. Metal washers, gears & acrylic finishes enhance the image.
Statement: This piece was inspired by metal gear at its center. It was a found object & reminded me of the decline of the industrial midwest, where I lived. Abandoned factories littered with rusting equipment were everywhere while that part of the country struggled to redefine itself. The raven, an image I often use, is here in its guise of scavenger, attracted by the glint of something shiny, maybe hope.
